RIGHTS:
Since Mansfield High School has been designated an A+ School, tuition incentives may be available from the state for all eligible graduates (provided state funds are appropriated by the legislature) who choose to attend a Missouri state public community college or vocational-technical school.
1. Student financial incentives (tuition, subject to legislative appropriation) will be available for a period of four years after high school graduation.
2. Tuition incentive payments will only be available for two years of actual attendance at a Missouri state public community college or post-secondary vocational-technical school.
3. The tuition incentives will be made available only after the student has made a documented good faith effort to first secure all available federal post-secondary student financial assistance funds that do not require repayment.
4. The incentives will only be made available to reimburse the unpaid balance of the cost of tuition after the federal post-secondary student financial assistance funds have been applied to these costs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AT MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL:
To be eligible, each student must enter into a written agreement with the school prior to high school graduation, and meet the following requirements.
1. Attend a designated A+ School for three consecutive years prior to high school graduation.
2. Graduate from high school with a grade point average equivalent to 2.5 points or higher on a 4-point scale (6.875 on an 11-point scale).
3. Have at least a 95 percent attendance record for all four years of high school.
4. Score Proficient on the Algebra I End of Course Exam ** NEW STATE REQUIREMENT FOR ALL INCOMING FRESHMAN 2011-2012 School Year
5. Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring for other students.
6. Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoidance of the unlawful use (or procession) of drugs and/or alcohol.
7. Make a documented, good faith effort to secure all available federal post-secondary student financial assistance funds that do not require repayment.
8. Register for Selective Service, if applicable.
RESPONSIBILITIES AFTER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION:
To maintain eligibility, each participating student must during the four year period of incentive availability do the following.
1. Have enrolled and attend on a full-time basis a Missouri public community college or vocational-technical school.
2. Maintain a GPA of 2.5 points or higher on a 4-point scale.
3. Make a documented good faith effort to secure all available federal post-secondary student financial assistance that does not require repayment.
