Senior Checklist 2012- 2013

ATTENTION SENIORS AND YOUR PARENTS
September
  • Contact or request online to college admissions offices for applications.
  • Plan to visit schools you are interested in – early fall is a good time.
  • Complete a Student Information Sheet if recommendations are needed.
  • Register for the October 27 ACT, if required by the college of your choice.  Register online at http://www.act.org.
  • Prospective Division I and Division II athletes – Register online http://www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.
  • Submit college applications 10 school days prior to deadline.
October
  • Register for December 8 ACT, if required.  Register online at http://www.act.org.
  • Work on college applications.
  • Meet with college representatives visiting the high school.
  • Take October 27 ACT
  • Early Decision candidates should complete college applications.  Ask teachers for college recommendations.
  • Provide teachers with stamped, addressed envelopes for college recommendations.
  • Submit college applications 10 school days prior to deadline.
November
  • Be in the process of completing college applications.
  • Early Decision deadlines are often November 1, November 15, or December 1.  Be aware of deadlines.
  • Meet with college representatives visiting the school.
  • Check the Scholarship Bulletin Board and file in the School Counseling Office.
  • Submit college applications 10 school days prior to deadline.
December
  • Complete all applications by December 7 to guarantee mailing before winter break.  All applications that you request to be mailed before the winter vacation must be submitted to the School Counseling Office 10 school days prior to the break.
  • Take December 1 SAT Reasoning Test or SAT Subject Tests, if registered.
  • Take December 8 ACT, if registered.
  • Check the Scholarship Bulletin Board.
January
  • Register on line for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Watch for January college application deadlines.
  • Check the Scholarship Bulletin Board.
  • Provide a stamped, addressed envelope to the School Counseling Office if a mid-year report is needed by the colleges to which you have applied.

*Attended OTC
*Attended Drury University; Studied Criminal Justice (60 hrs)
*Married Brittany Orf September 5, 2009
*Enlisted in the U.S. Army April 20, 2010, as Private First Class E-3
*Completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training in Field Artillary @ Fort Sill, OK 
*Specialized in Howitzer Cannons -Currently assigned to Fort Drum, NY
*Fall 2010 went to Joint Readiness Training Center @Fort Polk, LA 
    At Fort Polk received the Army Commendation medal-Deployed to Afghanistan March 2011  While there received Combat Action Badge and  battlefield promoted to Specialist, E-4 after 14 months of service
*Returned to Fort Drum March 15, 2012
*Future plans are to complete Criminal Justice degree, training in Air Assault school, and Pre-Ranger training.-Scheduled to be stationed in Fort Cambell, KY in 2013
